Barnstormers edge Cardinals
HAMILTON – Chatham-Kent scored its only runs in the third inning, but that was enough in a 2-1 victory on Sunday night in Hamilton.
The Barnstormers (6-5) had just three hits in the game, but Trent Sillett scored on a balk to open the scoring, and Evan Morrison’s sacrifice fly plated Spencer Morin for an insurance run.
Yuri Yokoyama tossed six innings of one-run ball for the win. He scattered three hits, walked six and struck out three to improve to 2-0. Garret Day pitched a perfect ninth to lock down his third save.
Hamilton’s lone run came in the bottom of the third when Jaden Brown doubled home Tyler Duncan with two outs.
Freisis Adames (0-1) suffered the loss despite giving up two runs (one earned) on three hits in six innings. He walked two and fanned five.
The Cards dropped to 4-3.
