Barnstormers come back in Toronto

TORONTO – Chatham-Kent scored five runs in the seventh inning to pull ahead of Toronto and beat the Maple Leafs 9-5 on Wednesday night at Dominico Field.  

Owen Constantineau and Trent Sillett each drove in a pair of runs for the Barnstormers (17-14). Both of Sillett’s RBIs came in the seventh when the Barnstormers entered the inning down by two. Yushin Ohta had two hits and an RBI while also scoring three times, Sadler Goodwin drove in a run, and Spencer Marcus went 2-for-4.  

Mizuki Akatsuka (3-4) went eight innings to earn the win on the mound. He allowed four runs on seven hits with two walks and seven punchouts.  

Dennis Dei Baning and Ryan Dos Santos both hit two-run home runs for the Leafs (12-18). Jordan Castaldo went 2-for-5 with an RBI, and Spenser Ross scored twice and stole a base.  

Greg Carrington (0-1) took the loss after allowing three runs on one hit and two walks without recording an out in the seventh inning. Toronto starter Franklin Hernandez struck out six in six innings. He was charged with two runs on six hits.
