Arnold powers Cards past Red Sox

BRANTFORD – Grant Arnold drove in three to lead the Hamilton Cardinals to an 8-3 win over the Brantford Red Sox Monday afternoon at Arnold Anderson Stadium.

Arnold finished the game 2-for-5 with a double and triple as Hamilton improved to 9-9.

Chris Beer singled twice and scored twice while driving in a run, Justin Gideon and Jonathan Dziomba each singled and scored a pair of runs, Jake Chiaravalle had an RBI and a run, Jake Foden drove in a run, and Connor Patterson went 2-for-4 and scored once.

Ben Braun (1-1) picked up the win, giving up two runs (one earned) on five hits over six innings. He struck out seven without issuing a walk.

Jacob Reid, Nick Zarzycki and Chris Iltshishin drove in Brantford's runs, and Jesse Fishbaum had two hits.

Edison Frias allowed five runs (three earned) on six hits in six innings. He walked one and struck out eight.

Brantford dropped to 1-19.
