Arias strikes out nine in Majors’ win over Leafs

LONDON -- Jose Arias struck out nine over eight shutout innings to lead the London Majors to a 4-2 win over Toronto Friday night at Labatt Park.

Arias (2-0) walked one and allowed two hits as his earned-run average plummeted to 0.72. Braeden Ferrington picked up his first save, working around a walk in two-thirds of an inning.

Offensively, Cleveland Brownlee went 2-for-4 with his third home run. He also doubled and drove in two. Keith Kandel and Andrew Lawrence drove in the other runs.

For the Leafs, Aidan McAskie had two hits and an RBI.

Yusei Teraoka took the loss, allowing a run on three hits over five innings. He walked one and struck out two.

London improved to 5-1, and Toronto dropped to 2-5.
