Royals add former Angels Farm Hand Hector Yan

GUELPH - The Guelph Royals Baseball Club is excited to announce today that we have signed starting pitcher Hector Yan for the 2023 season.

Yan, 23, joins the Royals after spending five seasons in the Los Angeles Angels organization.

During his time with the Angels, the southpaw had a lifetime earned run average of 3.90 and averaged 10.9 strikeouts per nine innings.

Yan, who represented the Angels in the 2021 Futures Game, finished second in Midwest League strikeouts during the 2019 season with a whopping 148 strikeouts in 109 innings pitched.

The native of La Romana, who as recently as 2021 was 11th on The Athletic's top prospects in the Angels organization list, has 58 career minor league starts to his name.

Royals owner and general manager Shawn Fuller expressed his excitement for adding a pitcher of Yan's calibre, who spent time on the Angels' 40-man roster throughout the latter stages of his minor league career.

"Yan was a highly regarded prospect with the Angels, known for his impressive resume in the minor leagues. We can't wait to see him pitch at Hastings this summer."

Yan becomes the first import signed by the Royals this offseason.
