Majors set to face Leafs in final

HAMILTON – It will be London and Toronto in the Dominico Cup final.

One night after the Maple Leafs eliminated Welland, the Majors punched their ticket with a 10-4 win Friday in Hamilton.

London won the best-of-five series 3-1 and, as top seed, will have home field against the No. 4 Leafs. No schedule has been announced. 

Jakob Newton went 4-for-5 with three RBI in the win. Cleveland Brownlee and Keith Kandel each homered and drove in two, while Austin Wilkie went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run. Robert Mullen singled, doubled and scored, Byron Reichstein had two hits and scored twice and Gibson Krzeminski drove in a run.

Jose Arias (2-0) fanned 11 over seven innings for the win. He gave up seven hits and didn’t issue a walk, while two of the four runs he allowed were unearned.

Corben Peters (2-1) took the loss, getting touched for seven runs (four earned) on seven hits over 5.1 innings. He walked two and struck out seven.

Robin Fox-Pappas went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a run for the seventh-seeded Cards. Dennis Dei Baning and Jacob Underwood had an RBI apiece, and Anthony Buonaiuto and Jeremie Veilleux both went 2-for-4 with a run.
