Former Phillies Prospect joins Majors Pitching Staff

LONDON - The London Majors are pleased to announce the signing of left-handed pitcher Manuel Silva.

Singed in 2015 to a minor league contract by the Philadelphia Phillies,  the 24-year-old Sabana Grande de Palenque, Dominican Republic native joins the team after pitching in the 2022 season for the Cleburne Railroaders of the American Association. During his time in the Phillies organization, the 24-year-old was ranked as high as #39 in their teams' prospects.

From 2016 to 2021 the lefty was a part of the Phillies organization and had very good minor-league stats. In 297 innings, Manuel had an ERA of 3.03 in 76 games while striking out 241 and recording 4 saves over that time.

A very good pitcher coming out of a strong Phillies organization, Roop Chanderdat was smiling ear to ear when talking about the newest addition to the Majors pitching staff “Manuel is a young import pitcher that is looking to get back to the next level and we have shown over the years that we have been successful in helping these guys move on to higher leagues. Silva has a live arm with good control and will be leaned on to help us win games.

The London Majors are a member of Canada’s top baseball league, the Intercounty Baseball League. In 2021 the London Majors won the IBL Jack & Lynn Dominico Trophy.
