Hamilton Signs Former Blue Jays Draft Pick Clayton Keyes

HAMILTON - The Hamilton Cardinals, members of the Intercounty Baseball League (IBL), Canada's top league, announced today the signing of outfielder Clayton Keyes for the upcoming 2023 season.

The 6-foot-1, 215-pound, Calgary, Alberta native joins the Cardinals after winning the 2022 NAIA Baseball Championship with the Southeastern Fire.

Keyes is an exceptional athlete who is known for his power and tools. Keyes was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in 2016 and by the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2017 – both while in high school. He was also a member of Canada’s Jr. National Team in 2017 where he was teammates with fellow Hamilton Cardinal Tyler Duncan.

“At his best, Keyes has a chance to be a premier hitter in the IBL," said Cardinals General Manager George Halim. “He’s tooled out, fun to watch, and has collected more high-pressure ABs and life experience than the average 23-year-old.”

“He’s young and talented with something to prove – we can afford to be patient, and watch him discover himself in Hamilton over the next few years,” said Halim.
