Tuesday Highlights: Dei Baning a wrecking crew for Cardinals over Majors

Dennis Dei Baning was like a wrecking crew Tuesday night, leading the Hamilton Cardinals to a 14-6 win over the London Majors during Intercounty Baseball League action at Labatt Park.

Dei Baning had three hits, two of which were home runs and added seven RBI. Laine Renaud had a pair of hits, including a homer and three RBI. Tyler Duncan also had a hot bat with two hits and two RBI.

Tommy Reyes-Cruz led the Majors offence with two hits and three RBI.

Alex Lanigan was credited with the win. Starter Corben Peters threw four innings and had six strikeouts.
Wilbur Martinez took the loss.

The Cardinals, now 15-13, host the Kitchener Panthers Friday at 7:35 p.m. The Majors are 8-18 and host the Welland Jackfish Friday at 7:35 p.m.

Porcellato sets the table for Jackfish


Leadoff batter Matteo Porcellato set the table for his teammates Tuesday, leading the Welland Jackfish to a 6-1 win over the Guelph Royals during Intercounty Baseball League action at David E. Hastings Stadium.

Porcellato had three hits and four RBI, while crossing the plate one time. Carlos Martinez and Ethan Hunt each had one hit and a pair of RBI.

Tristan Pompey had two hits in a losing effort.

James Bradwell had a great outing on the mound, giving up no runs and striking out nine in seven innings of work to get the win. Nelson Mercado was tagged with the loss.

The Jackfish are now 24-6 and visit the London Majors Friday at 7:35 p.m. The Royals drop to 11-18 and visit the Barrie Baycats Thursday at 7:35 p.m.
