Brown, Pérez named B45 Baseball IBL Players of the Week

The Intercounty Baseball League (IBL) announced its B45 Baseball Players of the Week for August 7 to 13, 2023.

Welland outfielder Hogan Brown (Virginia Beach, Va.) was named Batter of the Week, following an impressive 10-for-19 (.526) stretch in which he scored four runs, hit three doubles and stole three bases.

The former VCU Ram helped the Jackfish win all four games in the week, clinching the IBL pennant in the process, and is now hitting .382 with 35 RBI and 15 stolen bases on the season.

Kitchener left-hander Yamichel Pérez (Sancti Spiritus, Cub.) was named Pitcher of the Week, following a six-inning shutout performance at Guelph on August 12.

Pérez, a 14-season Cuban League veteran, struck out eight while scattering four hits in the Panthers' 4-0 victory over the Royals.

The 33 year-old is now tied for the IBL lead in wins (6), and has won his last two starts — both on the road — against surging teams in Welland and Guelph.
